Working Toward Balance

Progress
So this weeks Zone has been the kitchen. Yesterday and today, I have scrubbed the countertops - it's hard to believe the stains could be removed so easily. I know the mission to declutter the plastic containers is supposed to be tomorrow - however, when I first shined my sink, I cleaned out under the sink (which was today's mission.) So, instead, my DH and I have tackled the clutter from the plastic containers. We got rid of quite a few containers and reclaimed one whole cabinet! Now, it's easier to see the containers we can use. DH had a brilliant idea to take a picture of what an organized cabinet looks like and post it on the inside of the door - as a reminder and "instructional" diagram. I feel so good now!!! ...will post pictures later.

Welcome
What I would like this blog to be about is how I would like to regain balance in my life - I feel like a very tipsy tower, the kind that kids like to knock down. My plan is to document how I get my home, health, spiritual life, marriage, work, family, etc. back in balance - any and all areas that severly need help.
After much searching for organizing your home and life on-line, I've come across a great site.
http://www.flylady.net/
I'ver really been trying to follow it and set up my routines and document my progress so I can look back and feel accomplishment. So the first day of the FlyLady Baby Steps she directs you to shine your sink. So, I shined my sink. What a difference it makes. Also, it encourages me to keep up with my dishes everyday - Mount Dish would often become overwhelming when I wasn't keeping up. See how I transformed my not-so-pretty sink to a gleaming beacon of clean.

Left: The sink before the cleaning. Right: After the clean. So, before isn't that bad...from a distance. |

Up closer tells a different story. Left: There's lots of hard water stains and lime build-up. Right: It took a lot of scrubbing and scraping to get this area shining. |

Even the divider between the sinks needed some help. Left: Lots of build-up. Right: All clean...and shining. |
